Clermont Park is one of several communities owned and operated by Christian Living Communities (CLC), and was originally founded by members of the Christian Reformed and Reformed Churches of America. They were descendants of Dutch Calvinist immigrants who came to this country in the 19th century and settled in Denver. These forward-thinking men and women dreamed of churches, Christian schools, hospitals, welfare agencies, and organizations serving older adults.
In 1968, a group – including local church members – responded to their belief that a Christian community must support all its members, including their older adults. They started the University Hills Christian Nursing Home Association to provide a quality care community for area elders. On May 7, 1972, this group opened a 62-bed nursing home called University Hills Christian Nursing Home on the property that has now become Clermont Park Life Plan Community.
1983 marked the opening of 120 apartment homes called The Living Center. In 2008, we changed our name to Clermont Park Retirement Community, merging University Hills and The Living Center. Our most recent additions were completed in 2013 - including 74 new retirement living apartment homes, the Highline Restaurant, fitness center, new rehabilitation gym, art studio, courtyard, and our Adult Day Services.
