Clermont Park College of Creative Life

“Education is not the filling of a pot but the lighting of a fire”

– W.B. Yeats

At Clermont Park, we understand how important it is for residents to find engaging ways to keep their retirement and lives moving forward. Out of that inspiration, the Clermont Park College of Creative Life began offering a structured course schedule in the summer of 2014. No matter your age or the level of support you need, everyone has the ability to learn and stimulate their mind. After all, learning is something we do throughout our entire lives and it plays a big part in helping seniors stay happy and healthy.

The Four Dimensions of the Clermont Park College of Creative Life

The structured course schedule is offered by residents, guests and team members that fall into four distinct categories:

  • Social Engagement: There’s no question that having more meaningful connections can help anyone enjoy a more fulfilled life. The social component of our college focuses on giving people more opportunities to build meaningful relationships. But that’s not all; our social engagement curriculum shows people how their skills and talents can be used to benefit others.
  • Intellectual Engagement: It’s important for everyone to find time to challenge their minds. And research shows us that one of the best ways to accomplish this is to give our brain new experiences to work through. This might include taking a dance class, learning how to play an instrument or working on writing a poem. Our College gives you the opportunity to dive into a new passion.
  • Physical Health: Being physically active has a wide variety of benefits for seniors. From lowering your stress to getting better sleep and building muscle, our classes do more than just help you stay active. Trying a new fitness class is all it takes to start building healthy habits into your daily lifestyle.
  • Spiritual Health: It’s surprising how often spiritual wellness is overlooked. The spiritual component of our college helps seniors in their search for purpose and meaning. Our spiritual classes cover a wide range of topics including faith, religion, volunteering, art and nature. We believe that working on your spiritual health can help you better cope with worry, stress and grief.

Why Lifelong Learning is Important for Seniors

For older adults, learning offers the opportunity to expand your horizons. Learning something new can help build your self-esteem, give you confidence and offers a great way to meet new people. It’s common for everyone to have something that they’ve always wanted to learn. And now that you’re retired, you have the time to make it happen. The hardest part is finding a place to start your learning journey.

The Clermont Park College of Creative Life is your opportunity to learn something new. For more information about our classes and schedule, contact our friendly team today.
